Meet us in the show
JSSRR - 7th - 9th of January, Ritsumeikan University, Shiga-ken, Japaninfo
The birth of synchrotron radiation research in the second half of the 20th century, using light emitted from electron accelerators, created a new field within the natural sciences, and was one of the revolutions acheived by mankind in light-related science and technology.
Synchrotron radiation offers unrivalled properties as a lightsource at wavelengths ranging from the infra-red to X-rays, and demonstrates its efficacy by being able to reveal the static structure, dynamic structural change, and electronic structure of almost any material. Research using synchrotron radiation began in earnest in the late 1970s. Since then, from machine physics to beamline use, the interdisciplinary field of synchrotron radiation science spans fields including the biological sciences, materials sciences, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental sciences, medicine, and nuclear physics. From basic to applied research, and to industrial use building on these results, synchrotron radiation research has established itself within all of the above fields, and also facilitates the development of new directions. There are currently many synchrotron lightsources in Japan, which are used by around 10,000 researchers. The basic research and planning for future lightsource projects is also under intense discussion.
VUVX Date: 3rd - 7th of July Campinas-SP, Brazilinfo
The Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) and the Institute of Physics of University of Campinas (UNICAMP) will hold the 41st International Conference on Vacuum Ultraviolet and X-ray Physics (VUVX 2023) from 3 to 7 July, 2023, at Campinas-SP, Brazil.
The International Conference VUVX 2023 will bring together scientists from all over the world working in fields involving electromagnetic radiation in the vacuum ultraviolet, soft X-ray and hard X-ray spectral regions generated by synchrotron, laser, or plasma based sources. Topics to be covered range from instrumentation and methods development to applications in a variety of fields.
FINALLY! THE 15TH ICESS WILL BE ARRANGED IN OULU IN FINLAND!
DATE: 21ST - 25TH OF AUGUST.
International Conference on Electronic Spectroscopy and Structure.
Welcome to the best of Oulu!
In this vital city, ICESS2023 will be more than a conference. It will be your own uniqe Northern Experience.
Oulu is the fastest growing city in Arctic Europe – a cool city with hot business just an hour’s flight from Helsinki.
Being the biggest commercial, logistic and cultural hub in the region, Oulu is also called the Capital of Northern Scandinavia. Two universities and a wide pool of expertise provide a solid foundation for new businesses and future investments in Oulu.
The city has a rich educational supply. The University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences offer numerous faculties, departments and specialised research units which create the foundation of multiscientific research, innovation and training of experts. Regular co-operation with local enterprises provides high-quality education and constant development.

Welcome to Sapporo and IVC-22, the 22nd international vacuum congress.
IVC-22 is planned to be held as an on-site meeting so that attendees can communicate with each other face to face.
IVC-22 will be co-organized by JVSS and SCJ under the commission of The International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA) with support of Japan Vacuum Industry Association (JVIA).
SCES 24-29 of July 2022, Amsterdam, The Netherlandsinfo
The International Conference on Strongly Correlated Electron Systems 2022 (SCES 2022), Amsterdam, The Netherlands - is one of the larger conferences in the field of condensed matter physics worldwide. It brings together scientists working on various aspects of correlated electron systems, and reports on a wide range of novel materials and quantum phenomena.
Every three years SCES is organised as a special symposium in the International Conference on Magnetism: San Francisco (2018), Barcelona (2015), Busan (2012), Karlsruhe (2009), Kyoto (2006), Rome (2003), Recife (2000) and Cairns (1997).
HAXPES 2022 May 31 - June 3 in Himeji, Japaninfo
The 9th International Conference on Hard X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (HAXPES 2022) is going to be held at Himeji from May 31 to June 3, 2022. The HAXPES2022 conference will be basically held by in-person activities, but an online participation is also available. If the sanitary conditions will be also severe in the next spring, the conference will be fully online.
The conference will cover the most recent and exciting topics in atomic and molecular physics, chemistry, applied science, quantum materials and electron dynamics as viewed by HAXPES, along with the latest technological advances in the field.
The scientific program of HAXPES2022 will consist of plenary talks, invited and contributed oral presentations, as well as poster sessions and also vendors exhibition.

for Sustainable Development Goals
2019 DECEMBER 10-14 YOKOHAMA SYMPOSIA
CORPES2019, 15 - 19 Julyinfo
CORPES19 is an international workshop dedicated to recent experimental and theoretical advances in the electronic structure of strongly correlated systems and quantum materials. This workshop will bring together scientists working in the broad areas of many-body electronic structure theory and angle-resolved photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES).
The aim of the meeting is to deepen our understanding of the microscopic mechanisms underpinning the properties and functionalities of quantum materials (e.g. topological systems, 2D materials, correlated oxides, and superconductors). Recent experimental and theoretical advances in photoemission spectroscopy will also be covered. More generally, the workshop is intended to be an opportunity for the international community to discuss the most recent developments and future directions in these areas.
